My gratitude first of all goes to Swami who had orchestrated this book right from the beginning, and it is His Will that has been carried out. In His own unique way, Swami had chosen Lyn Kriegler from New Zealand to prod me into writing. She has given me such valuable editorial assistance throughout. Preface
Ooru Ledu, Peru Ledu in Telugu means, "I have no country, no name". In 1997 a devotee from the United Kingdom invited me to contribute my recollections of Swami's humour to compile a small book. In the process we shared with each other our valuable collection of Swami's instant wit in the form of repartee and puns.
Once during darshan Swami had asked a foreign lady where she came from. She replied: "Peru". Swami instantly responded: "Ooru ledu ... Peru ledu ..." and moved on! One might infer that Swami told her that she had neither a country nor a name.
Contemplating Swami's words I realised that He was telling this lady that He has neither a country nor a name! Swami asked a simple question and she gave a straightforward answer. She was a Peruvian from South America. Swami's words always carry a deeper meaning. The lady did not understand what Swami had said since Swami spoke in Telugu. This conversation was between two individuals - Swami and the Peruvian.
