About the Book
The author of this book titled 'Rasamayee Maa' (The Enchanting Mother), Shri Arun Kumar Panda, has been fortunate to be in the divine fold of Bhagawan Baba for over fifty years. The book is a heartfelt sincere account of the author's cherished experiences and close association with Bhagawan who was verily his divine mother. It also talks about the emotional bond with his father, Late Brahmananda Panda who was a beloved devotee of Swami and instrumental in spreading His message across the State of Odisha. As State President, he built the state organisation brick by brick into its present dynamic form. His book 'Raso Vai Sah' as titled by Baba, has been widely read and acclaimed worldwide. The author is actively involved with the Sathya Sai Organisation in Odisha. As Sevadals, he and his wife perform seva in Prashanti Nilayam during Odisha's turn. In his own humble way, the author propagates the message of Bhagawan through his experience sharing in many parts of Odisha and abroad. Radio Sai has interviewed the author on the content of both 'Raso Vai Sah' and 'Rasamayee Maa. Both the father and son follow Baba's direction in their life: "Help Ever, Hurt Never; Love All, Serve All." This book is an English translation of the Odiya edition which was printed in 2015 and very well received by readers and reviewed in newspapers appreciating the author's work. It is hoped that devotees will derive spiritual joy and inspiration by going through this book.
Preface
The year was 1958. I came to Cuttack to Dadei's (father's elder brother) place for further studies after having stayed with my father's elder sister till Class VI. My mother was no more, and it was not possible for Nonna (father) to keep me with him and take care of my schooling because of his nomadic life. During one of his visits to Cuttack, he suffered a severe attack of rheumatic arthritis. As he could not write, he asked me to get a postcard and dictated a letter to me. Upon seeing the letter, he made corrections in almost every line. He said to me, "You have no idea of spelling and matras (vowel signs). How can you write anything"? My literary achievement was limited to a story in the college magazine and Nonna's life sketch in a newspaper after his demise. Thus, I have written this book with knowledge as limited as this. As there was no plan to write a book, I did not keep any notes of the interviews I had with Swami. Whenever I get an opportunity to speak here in Odisha or outside India in Sathya Sai Organisation Centres, I only narrate my experiences with Swami. Therefore, the subjects in this book may be familiar to many.
