Foreword
It is a great pleasure for me to receive the book 'Sacrifice for Kashmir' written by Prof Himmat Singh. I have already gone al through the Punjabi version of his previous book 'Kashmir Layee Qurbani' (2004). It is a great effort on behalf of Prof. Himat Singh. He is a Sikh Historian with ample knowledge about Sikh History, current issues and specially with the issues on going with the Sikh's of the valley. His earlier publication in Punjabi has been very beneficial to the students, researchers and historians and I am sure that the translation version of the book will prove of immense value to everybody around academic circles of the country. The book deals with the most delicate and central chord like sentiency of Sikh Reality and the Sikh Existence in Kashmir valley. To have the particulars and data collection was very much tough task but the endeavour is quite appreciable and encouraging.
The book has got the rare and delicate facts and evidences with regard to the Sikhs of Jammu and Kashmir and their pragmatic perseverance for survival on the ancestral home land. I am confident that this book will be generously beneficial for historians, researchers and students.
