The present work, as the title indicates, takes an account of the Samkhya system insofar as its doctrines are presented and criticised in the works of the brahmanical systems of Indian philosophy. The importance of this subject and of such a study can never be overestimated.
Samkhya is one of the oldest systems of Indian philosophy. Its great antiquity, the authority of its propounder, its rational and realistic approach to and the explanation of the problem of reality are some of the chief reasons which have raised this system to a place of honour in the systems of Indian philosophy.
