About the Work

Gajapatiparataparudaradeva is the author of Sarasvativilasa. Parataparudradeva was in enlightened, sovereing and pwoerful ruler of the Gajapati Kings family of Orissa. The sarasvativilasa is recognized as an authority in the Andhradesa. Sarasvativilasa is an important and popular treatiese on Rajadharma and Vyavahara. The book contains five chapters (Ullasa). In the first chapter the identification of the author has been described. In the second the singnificance of the Sastras like Smrti, Purana and Itihasa etc., Rajadharma, the duties of the king, Statecraft in peace and war, Ministres, Counsels, Diplomacyh, messengers, army, fort, wars, conquest, kinds of Upaya, Guna etc. has been elaborated. The third chapter deals about the judicial procedure and fourth one describes about the application procedure, the clearness of eveidences by the appropriate authority and process of judgement. The fifth chapter deals about legal procedure in respect of the eighteen titles of civel and criminal disputes and their punishments. The book will be a valuble masterpiece for the Learned Society.

Prof. Jayakrushana Mishra

Born on 4th September, 1957 at Ranpurgarh, Nayagrah, Orissa, Studied in traditional line upto Vidyavaridhi (Ph.D.) under Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan (Deemed University), New Delhi and completed his Post Doctoral (D.Litt.) Research at Kameswar Singh Darbhanga Sanskrit University, Bihar on 1998. Awarded 18 Research Scholars with Vidyavaridhi (Ph.D) degree and 22 scholars with Vishistacharya (M.Phil) degree under his able guidance. Published 10 books in Sanskrit and 26 books in Oriya language. Attended 32 National and International conferences at different parts of India.

In the tradition of our ancient Indian Judicary System, Sarasvativilasa occupies a pre-eminent position because of its administration, diplomatic relations and legislation. The author of the monumental work is Gajapati Prataprudra Deva. Prataprudradeva was an enlightenec sovereing and powerful ruler of the Gajapati Kings family of Orissa belonging to 16th century A.D. The Sarasvativilasa is recognized as an authority in various parts of the country including andharadesa in particular. Sarasvativilasa is an important and popular treatise on Rajadharma and Vyavahara. The book contains five chapters (Ullasa).
