Description
About Mohammad Rafi

Music is immortal and real lovers of music also become immortal. Just like Baijoo Bawara and Tan Sen, the name of Mohammad Rafi is also glittering in the bright sky of music. He passed away on July 3 1st, 1980, but living in the hearts of music lovers is still. His songs can be heard every where. Our new generation also have a great craze for singing of these songs. In this book we have selected more than ten dozen evergreen songs for the music lovers like you. We have given these songs in Roman also, so non-Hindi speaking people can also sing these songs without any hesitation.

Rafi was born on December 24, 1924 in a small village in Punjab (now in Pakistan) near Amritsar and later shifted to Lahore when he was 14 years old. There he studied music under Khan Abdul Washeed Khan, Jeevanlal Matto and Gulam Au Khan. He recorded his first song in 1944 for a Punjabi film Gul Baloch with music director Shyam Sunder. Only a few people know that had acted in a couple of Hindi films, Laila Majnu (1945) and Jugnu (1947). But his first choice was music, so he leaved the field of acting on his own will.

His voice was so versatile that it suited any mood ranging from the boisterous to the melancholic. Rafi sang for Dilip Kumar, Dev Anand, Shammi Kapoor, Rajendra Kumar, Johnny Walker, Sunil Dutt, Biswajeet, Joy Mukherjee, Dharmendra, Shashi Kapoor and Raj Kumar. From the classical ‘Madhuban mein Radhika Nachi re to the swinging ‘Aaja Aaja Main Hoon Pyaara Tera’, from the soulful ‘Hama Bekhudi Main Aapako Pukarein’ to the comic ‘Sar Jo Tera Chakraye, from the philosophical ‘Dekhi Zamaane Ki Yaari’ to the frivolous Aiaiya Karoon Main Kyaa Sookoo Sookoo’, he could sing anything!

Mohammad Rafi was not only the best singer of previous( century, but was a noble man too. He was the super hit playback singer of his time and also awarded by Padam Shri by the government, but he never shows any proud. He was so polite and humble, that every person treat him like his brother. He always remains ready to help every body, specially new-comers in films.

He was the king of serious and melodious songs both, but e also sung a large number of patriotic and religious songs. classical and semi classical, sufee and folk songs were also sung by him. We have tried our level best to select his all types of songs in this book.

I’ve received the package 2 days ago. The painting is as beautiful as I whished! I’m very interesting in history, art and culture of India and I’m studing his civilization; so I’ve visited Rajasthan, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Kerala in theese years. I’m a draftwoman , so I like collect works of extraordinary arts and crafts of villages, that must be protected and helped. In a short time I’ll buy some others folk painting, as Madhubani , Kalamkari and – if it’s possible – Phad. In the meanwhile, I’m very happy to have in my home a work of your great artist. Namaste, Namaskara.
