Life is a journey, not from the womb to tomb, but from God to God. If we want to visit someplace new, we seek help from guidebooks and those who have been there. The journey is easy and comfortable with an experienced guide. In the journey of life our destination is God, scriptures are the guidebooks, and hearing from those who have gone before is good company. Ultimately, guidance from the realized master is the real guide.
The guru is described as the boatman who carries us to the other shore. The guru is the companion who helps and supports us on our journey until we reach the ultimate destination. While working on Shri Gurudev's teachings from my notebooks, I thought to compile some of his teachings very precisely and make a handy, concise booklet to guide us.
My beloved Gurudev, Paramahamsa Hariharanandaji, lived a life of complete divine intoxication. He speaks from his own life experiences and guides us to become sincere and dedicated seekers. Here are his teachings in his own words.
