Book Description

Preface Though in the Natyaśāstra of Bharata ten kinds of Rūpakas (allegory) have been Mentioned still the Rūpakas does not arise at a same times. As per tastes of spectators different Rūpakas have been originated in different times. Bhāņa is a one Act Rūpaka, so there is no doubt that is last exclusion of all the Rūpakas. Almost all the dramaturgees starting from bharata-The author of Nātyaśāstra down to the subsequent critics, threw light on the nature and characteristics of bhāņa. A close analysis of these characteristics will reveal that throughout the ages the form and characteristics of bhāņa were subject to some distinct change and modification in different times. Also the taste and out look of the viewers were also changed considerably. The primary aim and objective of rūpaka i.e. drama is to creat an artistic appeal in the heart and mind of the viewers and to satisfy them at their heart's content.
