Book Description
About The Book

The quintessence o the Avatharic Mission of Sri Sathya Sai Baba is the social, moral and spiritual development of mankind through the five human values of Sathya, Dharma, Santhi, Prema and Ahimsa on a global scale. Through His divine life and teachings, He strove tirelessly for over eight decades to raise the human consciousness to the level of Divinity. Nevertheless, He did not ignore the physical wellbeing of the human being as a prelude to his moral and spiritual development. Towards this end, He chose three areas of human endeavour providing free education, free healthcare and basic necessities like drinking water for the well-being of the human race, as a world-wide service activity. Through the Sathya Sai Central Trust with Prasanthi Nilayam as its headquarters and the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations functioning in several countries in every continent, Bhagawan is spreading the message of loving service to humanity in ever so many ways. This book is an attempt to capture glimpses of the glory of the Divine Life and Mission of the Avathar Sri Sathya Sai Baba.

Preface

When God incarnates in human form, people in general mistake Him to be an ordinary human being like them and be indifferent to His divinity and His mission on earth. This had happened several times in the history of the human race. Even earlier Avathars like Rama and Krishna were no exception to this general trend. Very few people during those times could recognise their divinity and benefit by the divine presence of Avathars and their teachings. Even the families in which they were 'born' and those who were moving very intimately with them had no inkling of their divinity and treated them as just ordinary human beings. Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, the Avathar of the Age, had once beautifully elaborated on this human predicament thus: "Since I move about with you, eat like you and talk with you, you are deluded into the belief that this is but an instance of common humanity. Be warned against this mistake. I am also deluding you by My Singing with you and engaging Myself in activities with you. Since Divinity is enveloped by humanness, you must endeavour to overcome the maya (delusion) that hides it from your eyes." In the present Age characterized by rampant materialism, aggressive disbelief and irreverence, Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba launched a world-wide movement of social, moral and spiritual development through the five human values of Sathya, Dharma, Santhi, Prema and Ahimsa. He had by His divine touch drawn millions of people all over the world irrespective of religion, nationality, social status, language etc., and made them useful instruments in His Avatharic Mission by bringing about a silent transformation in their hearts. Today, there is hardly any country in the world in which there is not a Sai Centre or service activity undertaken under the banner of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Orgnisation. His movement had really gone global and involves millions of people all over the world. This is a fascinating story spread over eight decades and is beyond the comprehension of an ordinary human being. It is really impossible to comprehend the full glory of the Avathar Sri Sathya Sai Baba or His Divine Mission. However, an attempt is made to capture a few glimpses of the God in Human Form and His Mission and present it in a book form. I am beholden to Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba for granting me this opportunity of presenting this narration about Him, so that it may inspire the devotees and His humble sevaks all over the world to become useful instruments in His Mission for generations to come. I am grateful to the Convener, Sri Sathya Sai Sadhana Trust, Publications Division, Prasanthi Nilayam, at whose direction I have undertaken this fulfilling task.
