Book Description
About the Book

The book, A Treasure Trove of Wisdom, written by Musiri R Parthasarathy, is a thoughtful collection of the rarest and the best stories and anecdotes from Indology, world literature and other religions.

Simplified stories based on complex philosophical abstractions like body, soul, super soul, Brahman, meditation, transmigration of the soul and 'what happens to the soul after death?' throw light into these riddles. The author has put his heart and soul to answer these knotty questions to global readers who might be curious about these topics.

Despite the author writing this manuscript many years ago, even at that time, he had the foresight of the power of visual storytelling, which is considered as the powerful communication mechanism in this era of social media. The book can be read in any order, from any chapter onward. The story is presented in such a way that the reader finds the key message of the book from any starting point.

Through the book, the author drives home the message that different faiths converge to common wisdom - the God Almighty is causeless and the only Supreme Being.

Forward

It is the blessings of Acharyas, because of which I am fortunate to write about how I enjoyed the book written by Musiri (Late) R. Parthasarathy. It speaks about the way of life of our grand and great grandfathers.

Today, very few have the liking and taste to read Srimad Ramayanam, Srimad Bhagavatham and the like. Those epics are the real guidance to know and to understand the purpose of life. Such readers rarely think of understanding the message established by these epics. The author, through this book, not only presented some important episodes from the above epics but also helped the readers to understand the messages easily. For the present and for the future generations, this book becomes very handy. It throws light on our Indian philosophy and western thoughts, with a comparison. From Veda Vyasa to Sri Ramanujar and from Socrates to the modern western thinkers, the thoughts are presented well in a simple way. I wish to cite few examples from this book to help our readers to get a glimpse of the book. The author's selection of episodes is amazing.

"Hinduism is not just a faith. It is the Union of reason and intuition that cannot be defined but is only to be experienced."- Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. This book throws light to this great statement. Hinduism is complete in itself. The world talks about resurrection. Actually, the first instance of resurrection is beautifully explained by the author by narrating the episodes related to the meeting of Nachiketas with Yama at Yama Loga Kathopanishad. This This episode also explains great philosophical truth as told by Yama Dharma. This is being referred to as has almost formed the thought line for the Lord Srikrishna to deliver the great Srimad Bhagavath Gita.

The concept of rebirth and the influence of previous birth are the strong points of Hinduism. The author has enlightened this concept by describing the life of Jadabharathar.

Transmigration of soul is also possible. This is demonstrated by Jagat Guru Sri Shankaracharyar. This book has brought out this important art in a simple and easy way for the understanding of the next generation.

People know about the story of Sri Narasimha Avatara, bur the presentation of this story in this book is thought-provoking.

To quote, Hiranyakashipu asks Sri Prahalada, "where is Hari?" Prahalada's answer came spontaneously, "He is in your tongue, you called HIM, now He is everywhere. "This is beautiful and touches us effectively. Discussion of love and Bhakthi shown by Sri Andal and Sri Meera is very interesting. The expression of Bhaktbr by Poosalar and Kannappan is chosen by the author to throw light on the messages that the Bhakthi has no language, caste or creed. The author wants to give a very important message to the young couples too. He used the life history of sage Yagnavalkya. The Sage said to his wife that the real knowledge was to shower love to all, and this starts from the couple by practising the following. "The wife should identify her soul in her husband and the husband, his soul in her."
