As they used to say: History is about chaps and geography about maps,” but I am sure you will agree that the description of a country requires much more than that! You want to know ho many festivals there are and how they are celebrated; what are the languages and where are they spoken which is the driest spot and which the wettest of all; who built the Taj Mahal; where is the Lotus Temple; which is the business capital of the country; what does Union Territory mean; what are the names of all the Indian prime Ministers and President and so on. India’s history is like a great river of time. We start more than 5000 years ago, with the Indus Valley Civilization History uses A.D. and B.C. with Dates, meaning the years’ before Christ (B.C.) and the years After Christ (Anno Domini, A.D.). Through this book you will understand the many-coloured threads that make up our rich heritage, and make us proud of who we are.
