Being a multivalent goddess, Durga is closely related to tribal and local deities and is honoured and revered by all social classes. There is hardly any village in the entire country that does not have an idol or image of Durga or one of her millions of forms.

Mahisasuramardini is the title Durga attained on killing the demon Mahisa. Representations of Mahisa vary – some depict him emerging from the buffalo, others show him in just a demon form. Here, not only is he without an animal disguise, but armed also, holding a sickle and a shield. He is painted green, in colour of venom. His chest is wounded by the deity's spear.

Durga, one leg poised on the villain’s back, looks resplendent. The multi-armed goddess holds all kinds of weapons of destruction. By her expression, Durga looks very angry. If one could look beautiful in anger, she does. Her lion too bites off his share off the demon.

The image of Durga and Mahisa is placed on a colorful, crowning pedestal in a niche. The artist has used bright colors against a rich, vivid blue ground.

This is to inform you that the shipment of my order has arrived in perfect condition. The actual shipment took only less than two weeks, which is quite good seen the circumstances. I waited with my response until now since the Buddha statue was a present that I handed over just recently. The Medicine Buddha was meant for a lady who is active in the healing business and the statue was just the right thing for her. I downloaded the respective mantras and chants so that she can work with the benefits of the spiritual meanings of the statue and the mantras. She is really delighted and immediately fell in love with the beautiful statue. I am most grateful to you for having provided this wonderful work of art. We both have a strong relationship with Buddhism and know to appreciate the valuable spiritual power of this way of thinking. So thank you very much again and I am sure that I will come back again.
