The Deccan dignitary stands stiffly in the centre, posing in profile. The figure has the titanic proportions of the Ahmadnagar style. He wears a long tunic, reaching upto the ankles, concealing the tight pyjamas underneath. It is heavily gathered at the waist, held by an exquisitely embroidered patka. The boteh motif, embroidered symmetrically all over, also speaks of the Mughal influence. Numerous pearl strings hang down his neck. His turban is also decorated with gem studded ornaments. Apart from his appearance, his poise is also royal - in the way he rests his hand on the hilt of the long sword or the way he delicately holds a tiny flower.
The olive background depicts the sky as colourful horizontal lines and ground with flowering plants.
