Batik has emerged as a rare and exotic art form. It is made by applying wax in succession, each application resisting a different color dye. Batik artworks usually have scraggly lines, giving the crackle effect, which is so characteristic of batik works.

Depiction of genre scenes in batiks is as important as iconographic representations. This lady is entertaining out in the vineyard. She is wearing costume and jewelry related to the Northern Indian states - a knee-length kameez, a loose salwar, an odhini covering the head right up till the forehead. It hangs behind the back, covering no other part of the body. A sash is casually tied around her waist. Her oval face has dreamy eyes and sharp features. Red lips and a red dot on her forehead make her look prettier. Her delicate arms end in long, tapering fingers. The low stool that holds the casket and the cup is wooden with a velvet covering. The casket has filigree work and some carving. The cup beside it is filled with red wine.

The top left corner is entirely devoted to the fruit bearing vines with large leaves and luscious grapes. It is a picture of luxurious and comfortable living.

Speaking about the picture, the colors are wisely chosen. Proportion and form are excellently balanced. In all, a very pleasant and well-finished piece of work.
