The synthesis of Hindu Muslim cultures created a rich variety of designs. That very style is reflected in this necklace of great allure and very much a part of Jaipur opulence. The main neckpiece has two drums with every fine carving surrounding a leaf shaped central piece. Below this is a rectangular plate, tapering at both ends. The triangles formed by the tapering have bird couples on either side. To achieve this kind of minute designing on a small surface takes very mature craftsmanship. In the centre of the rectangle is a square carrying the image of Ganesha, seated on a throne, in a lalitasana posture. It is again a wonder in carving, as the design shows, each feature, attribute carried in Ganesha's hands, his halo very clearly. The rectangular plaque has six tiny, four petaled flowers attached to it and the flowers reduce as they go down to form a triangle with one little flower drop. The floral triangle has small silver balls surrounding it.
This elaborate chunk of exquisitely carved silver is strung in wire covered with thick black thread. The black thread, according to Indian tradition words off the evil eye. As this piece has a centrally placed Ganesha image, it becomes a doubly auspicious neck ornament.
