Radha Krishna legend is seen dominating the theme of Rajasthani paintings in all its phases and all its ages, be it on paper, silk or on marble as here. In its divine aspect, Radha Krishan, legend was a ladder for spiritual elevation, whereas in its human form it was an eternal source of sensuous delight..

On this soft marble plate, we see the blue bodied Krishna tenderly holding Radha by the shoulder while she prods him to play the flute. Playing on the hollow bamboo rod was his favourite past time but now his attention has degressed. He is dressed in his usual pitamber dhoti and an attractive pink shoulder cloth. Jewellery and an attractive crown adorn him; the crown bearing peacock feathers as well. A long garland of wild flowers hang down his neck, Radha is dressed in a simple ghagra - choli with a transparent odhini. Strings of pearls adorn this beauty, as a faraway look clouds her eyes..

Behind the two is Krishna's cow, decorated with jewellery and a peacock feather tucked in its headgear. A lotus pond with blooming flowers and leaves flows in and out of the undulating hills. The foreground is bare of vegetation but right behind Radha and Krishna is dense foliage. The background has the evening sky of various soft tones complementing the theme of the painting..
