Seen here in profile is the image of blue-bodied Krishna, which does not tally with the prescribed iconographic details laid down. He wears a knee length flared skirt and a tight trousers. He wears an elaborate crown with pearls hanging down the sides. In the neck, he wears numerous strings reaching down to his knees. He also wears a long garland of lotus buds and also holds lotus flowers on long stalks in one hand. The other hand holds a garland made of wild flowers. Krishna stands against a flowering tree, behind which flows the river bathed in moon beams. The night is brightly lit by the full moon. The foreground has a lotus pond with full-bloomed lotus flowers and leaves floating. Colourful flowers decorate the band. A lone peacock with flared wings follow the lord.
The artist uses a very bright colour palette for the main theme as well as the foreground. He depends on shading to lend volume to Krishna's body.
