Chain Height: 8.5 Inches
This striking bronze hanging lamp is conceived as a suspended axis, where movement, balance, and illumination are brought into a single continuous gesture.
At its centre, a female figure holds herself in a fully inverted posture, her body arched with controlled precision as her hands grip a horizontal bar. The legs curve upward and fold back with measured elasticity, forming a compact, disciplined arc.
Her face remains composed, the features rounded and steady, untouched by the strain of the pose. Ornamentation is closely worked- necklaces, armlets, and girdle follow the contour of the body, reinforcing its taut structure rather than distracting from it.
From her grasp emerges a coiled serpent, rising in a poised curve before resolving into the lamp below. The naga is not an ornamental link; it establishes the inner current of the composition.
In the language of Tantric thought, the serpent corresponds to Kundalini Shakti, the latent energy held within the body, gathered, awakened, and directed with intent. Here, that force is not shown as ascending alone, but as consciously guided into manifestation. The serpent’s body becomes the conduit through which this contained energy is led toward the lamp.
The flame it supports is therefore understood as more than physical illumination- it is the outward expression of awakened energy, the light of devotion sustained by Kundalini itself. The transition from body to serpent to flame is continuous and deliberate, binding disciplined movement, inner vitality, and luminous presence into a single, unbroken flow.
