In Sanskrit, Medicine Buddha was popularly known as Bhaisayaguru. Typically depicted seated in meditation (Dhyana Asana), his left hand holds a bowl of healing nectar, while his right hand holds the Myrobalan plant (also known as “Haritaki” or “Terminalia Chebula”), signifying Lord Buddha’s role as the “Healer” or the Medicine Buddha.
