The Symbolism of Shiva Linga

The Shiva Linga is a sacred representation of Lord Shiva, one of the principal deities in Hinduism. Auspicious Nagas

Note the presence of the serpent or "Naga" that is wrapped around the circular platform where the lingam sits. Nagas are considered auspicious and protective energies that are often found in association with Hindu deities. In particular, Nagas are considered very auspicious with Shiva and the serpent is typically symbolic of the kundalini energy.
