Deity of Healing

Within the rich tapestry of Tibetan Buddhism, certain figures stand out as beacons of compassion and healing. This meticulously crafted brass statue depicts a deity revered for his power to alleviate suffering, both physical and spiritual. The seated figure is characterized by a serene countenance, with eyes gently downcast in a meditative gaze. His hands are posed in specific mudras, symbolic gestures that convey profound meaning. In his left hand, he holds a lapis lazuli bowl filled with healing nectar, representing the potent medicine that can cure illness and bring about inner peace. A flowering plant is clutched in his right hand, further emphasizing the life-giving and restorative qualities associated with this deity. His robes are draped elegantly over his body, signifying renunciation and commitment to the path of enlightenment. The intricate detailing of his headdress and the folds of his garments testify to the skill of the artisan who created this sacred object.

Myth and Significance

According to Buddhist cosmology, there exists a pantheon of enlightened beings who have vowed to assist sentient beings in their journey toward liberation. Among them, this deity holds a special place as the embodiment of healing and well-being. His celestial realm, known as the Pure Lapis Lazuli Land, is a place of perfect harmony and devoid of suffering, where he resides with countless other Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. It is said that through sincere devotion and the recitation of his mantra, one can invoke his blessings to overcome physical ailments, mental afflictions, and negative karmic influences. His practice is widely performed in Tibetan Buddhist communities, where individuals and groups gather to pray for healing and to generate positive energy for the benefit of all beings. The image serves as a reminder of the innate capacity for healing that resides within each of us and as an inspiration to cultivate compassion and care for ourselves and others. It is more than just a beautiful sculpture; it represents a powerful symbol of hope and healing within the vast landscape of Tibetan Buddhist philosophy.

How to keep a Brass statue well-maintained?

Brass statues are known and appreciated for their exquisite beauty and luster. The brilliant bright gold appearance of Brass makes it appropriate for casting aesthetic statues and sculptures. Brass is a metal alloy composed mainly of copper and zinc. This chemical composition makes brass a highly durable and corrosion-resistant material. Due to these properties, Brass statues and sculptures can be kept both indoors as well as outdoors. They also last for many decades without losing all their natural shine.

Brass statues can withstand even harsh weather conditions very well due to their corrosion-resistance properties. However, maintaining the luster and natural beauty of brass statues is essential if you want to prolong their life and appearance.

  • The best and simplest way to maintain a brass statue is to clean it at least twice a week using a soft cloth or cotton rag. This will prevent dust from accumulating on the surface. Dusting is especially important for outdoor statues since it is prone to dust accumulation much more than indoors.

  • To give a natural shine and luster to the statue, you may apply coconut or olive oil using cotton on every portion. You can use a toothbrush to get to the small crevices but do not be too harsh. This will make the brass statue appear fresh and new with a polished look.

  • In case you have a colored brass statue, you may apply mustard oil using a soft brush or clean cloth on the brass portion while for the colored portion of the statue, you may use coconut oil with a cotton cloth.

Brass idols of Hindu Gods and Goddesses are especially known for their intricate and detailed work of art. Nepalese sculptures are famous for small brass idols portraying Buddhist deities. These sculptures are beautified with gold gilding and inlay of precious or semi-precious stones. Religious brass statues can be kept at home altars. You can keep a decorative brass statue in your garden or roof to embellish the area and fill it with divinity.
