Symbolism Embodied

This intricately crafted brass statue depicts the revered Hindu deity Ganesha, but not in his common single-faced form. Instead, it presents him as Pancha-Mukha Ganesha – with five faces, a representation rich in symbolism and deeply rooted in Hindu philosophy. The five faces symbolize the five koshas, or layers of the human existence. These are the Annamaya Kosha (the physical body), Pranamaya Kosha (the vital energy), Manomaya Kosha (the mental sheath), Vijnanamaya Kosha (the intellectual sheath), and Anandamaya Kosha (the bliss sheath). Each face represents a different aspect of consciousness, creation, and existence, reminding us of the multifaceted nature of the divine and our own potential for wholeness. The brass construction lends a warm, golden hue to the statue, reminiscent of the sun’s radiant energy and adding to its spiritual aura. The metal itself is often chosen for sacred objects due to its conductivity, believed to facilitate the flow of positive energy and blessings. The detailed craftsmanship ensures each of the five faces of Ganesha is clearly defined, showcasing his characteristic large ears (to hear prayers), trunk (to discriminate between good and bad), and endearing expression.

Auspicious Presence

Ganesha, the elephant-headed god, is widely worshipped as the remover of obstacles, the patron of arts and sciences, and the deva of intellect and wisdom. He is invoked at the beginning of rituals, ceremonies, and new ventures, signifying his role as the initiator of good fortune. Having him with five faces multiplies all of the effects! The presence of a Ganesha statue in the home or workplace is believed to bring prosperity, success, and protection from negative influences. Legend has it that Ganesha was created by Parvati, the consort of Lord Shiva. She fashioned him from the turmeric paste she used for bathing and breathed life into him. Shiva, upon returning from his meditation, did not recognize Ganesha and, in a fit of rage, severed his head. Parvati was heartbroken, and Shiva, realizing his mistake, promised to revive Ganesha. He instructed his ganas (attendants) to bring the head of the first creature they encountered facing north. They returned with the head of an elephant, which Shiva attached to Ganesha, thus giving him his iconic form. This tale speaks to the themes of devotion, protection, and the power of divine intervention. Placing the elephant-headed Lord in your space serves as a constant reminder of our ability to overcome obstacles.
