Perumal, fondly also called Thirumal, is considered to be the true form of Lord Vishnu in the South region of India, Tamil Nadu. Perumal is considered to be one of the supreme deities and the creator of the Universe. The lord is one amongst the Trinity deities and typifies the potential of sustenance. It is believed that Srinivasa Perumal grants all wishes made by his devotees, who pray to the lord with the right intentions and are not driven merely through material gains in life.
This beauteous wall hanging of Srinivasa Perumal is made with exquisite detailing, with the lord wearing a rich Mukut, delicate ornaments to a white mask that covers partially covering the lord’s eyes. This is said to have a deep meaningful meaning according to the legend i.e, the lord’s eyes should be covered as it is said that his worshippers cannot endure the powerful radiations his eyes emit. His divine weapons can also be seen alongside the lord: The Sudarsana Chakra and the Conch in this well-crafted sculpture.
