The Guru of Wisdom and Compassion

Invite the profound presence of Padmasambhava into your home or meditation space with this exquisite statue. Crafted from durable copper and meticulously gilded with 24-karat gold, this piece radiates an aura of sacredness and enduring spiritual significance. Padmasambhava, revered as the "Lotus-Born," is a pivotal figure in Tibetan Buddhism, often referred to as the "Second Buddha" for his instrumental role in bringing Buddhism to Tibet. His teachings and legacy continue to inspire millions across the globe, offering a path to liberation and enlightenment.

A Divine Legacy

The historical accounts of Padmasambhava's life are intertwined with legend and myth. Born from a lotus flower in the Dhanakosha lake of Uddiyana, he was recognized as an emanation of the Buddha Amitabha. His arrival in Tibet in the 8th century CE, at the behest of King Trisong Detsen, marked a turning point in the spiritual landscape of the region. He is credited with subduing local demons and spirits that obstructed the spread of the Dharma, transforming them into protectors of the Buddhist teachings. His mastery over tantric practices and his profound wisdom allowed him to transmit the esoteric doctrines of Vajrayana Buddhism, laying the foundation for its rich and vibrant tradition.

Symbolism and Iconography

This statue captures the essence of Padmasambhava's enlightened nature. He is depicted in his iconic form, seated in a relaxed posture on a lotus throne, signifying purity and spiritual awakening. The wrathful yet compassionate expression on his face reflects his power to overcome obstacles and guide beings towards liberation. In one hand, he holds a vajra (a ritual thunderbolt), symbolizing indestructible wisdom and the power to cut through ignorance. In the other, he holds a skull-cup filled with nectar, representing the elixir of immortality and the essence of wisdom. The ritual staff, or khatvanga, often seen with him, represents his mastery over the elements and his ability to transform negative energies. The intricate detailing of his robes and ornamentation further enhances the sacredness of the depiction, reflecting the opulence and grandeur associated with enlightened beings.

Craftsmanship and Devotion

The choice of copper as the base material ensures the statue's longevity and resonance, while the lavish 24-karat gold gilding imbues it with a celestial radiance. Each detail, from the serene facial features to the flowing drapery, is rendered with precision and devotion by skilled artisans. This statue is not merely a decorative object but a powerful conduit for spiritual connection and a constant reminder of the wisdom and compassion that Padmasambhava embodies. Whether placed in a personal shrine, a meditation room, or a living space, it serves as an inspiring focal point for contemplation and a symbol of one's commitment to the spiritual path. Embrace the blessings and profound teachings of the Lotus-Born with this magnificent representation.

How to keep a Brass statue well-maintained?

Brass statues are known and appreciated for their exquisite beauty and luster. The brilliant bright gold appearance of Brass makes it appropriate for casting aesthetic statues and sculptures. Brass is a metal alloy composed mainly of copper and zinc. This chemical composition makes brass a highly durable and corrosion-resistant material. Due to these properties, Brass statues and sculptures can be kept both indoors as well as outdoors. They also last for many decades without losing all their natural shine.

Brass statues can withstand even harsh weather conditions very well due to their corrosion-resistance properties. However, maintaining the luster and natural beauty of brass statues is essential if you want to prolong their life and appearance.

  • The best and simplest way to maintain a brass statue is to clean it at least twice a week using a soft cloth or cotton rag. This will prevent dust from accumulating on the surface. Dusting is especially important for outdoor statues since it is prone to dust accumulation much more than indoors.

  • To give a natural shine and luster to the statue, you may apply coconut or olive oil using cotton on every portion. You can use a toothbrush to get to the small crevices but do not be too harsh. This will make the brass statue appear fresh and new with a polished look.

  • In case you have a colored brass statue, you may apply mustard oil using a soft brush or clean cloth on the brass portion while for the colored portion of the statue, you may use coconut oil with a cotton cloth.

Brass idols of Hindu Gods and Goddesses are especially known for their intricate and detailed work of art. Nepalese sculptures are famous for small brass idols portraying Buddhist deities. These sculptures are beautified with gold gilding and inlay of precious or semi-precious stones. Religious brass statues can be kept at home altars. You can keep a decorative brass statue in your garden or roof to embellish the area and fill it with divinity.
