Kanjeevarams are the age-old sari weaving traditions followed in the temple town of Kanchipuram in the southern state of Tamil Nadu. Woven in a temple town they acquire a special significance. Kanjeevaram silks come in different weights of silk, ranging from light to heavy. In the southern part of India they form an unmistakable part of the weddings and other auspicious occasions. The weaves are exquisite and are often woven with pure gold zari threads increasing their value. Indeed Kanjeevarams are the pride of south India.

This Kanjeevaram comes in a light variety of silk with a plain mehndi color body. The border and the pallav of the sari are the main attractions. The border woven in zari has a series of peacocks in the southern style. The features of the peacocks and the striking dancing postures are well brought our by the delicate weave. Below the row of dancing peacocks are a row of twin peacocks facing each other.

The pallav is very exquisitely woven in zari and is a combination of the temple designs and ornately woven floral designs, all merging together to make the pallav weave very special. The flowers and the leaves in the vases are exquisitely crafted to blend with the entire theme of the sari. The most ornate are the dancing peacocks with large tails falling over the arches of the temple. Overall the theme of the pallav lends the entire sari a very traditional and rich look.
