This hand painted sari comes in three different colors blending into each other perfectly. Lemon yellow, mustard yellow and brown make up the body color. Hand painting is done on the border and the pallav. The border has the traditional 'inkpot', with a carved feather as the writing instrument. Alternating with this is the banana tree which has a religious and symbolic value in the Hindu cosmology.
The pallav is very interesting. It has the painting of Ganesha (elephant headed god), but in a walking posture. The Ganapati on this sari is depicted as a Pundit (priest), followed by an attendant and an umbrella over him. The inkpot and writing instrument in the border is also symbolic of Ganesha being the scribe of the Mahabharata.
