Basant Panchami 2026: Significance, History & How to Celebrate Rituals
The scent of freshly bloomed flowers wafting through the air, people dressed in yellow-colored attire, the sunlight providing warmth in the receding winter. It all brings just one festival to mind and that is Basant Panchami or Vasant Panchami. While Vasant means spring, Panchami means the 5th day. This festival falls on the 5th day of the Maagha month as per the Hindu calendar and marks the arrival of the Spring season which is called the Basant ritu in Hindi, hence the name Vasant Panchami. It is also believed that this is the day when Goddess Saraswati emerged in the form we know today, Bringing respite from the harsh cold weather of the winter months marks the beginning of warmer days. This day is celebrated in various ways and by various names in different parts of India. In South India, it is called Sri Panchami and in West Bengal, it is celebrated as Saraswati Puja.

Understanding the Buddhism Beliefs About Tantra
According to Buddhism beliefs the way to attain nirvana is by realizing one’s Buddha nature and Buddhist Tantra practices enable us to do that. It advocates that enlightenment is not something that resides in the future. In fact, humans are already enlightened. They just need to realize it. Making use of mantras, mudras, mandalas, imaginations, etc, Tantra allows a person to fast-track the process of attaining enlightenment so that the entire universe can benefit from it. It is a practice that makes complete use of an individual’s power of imagination to harness divine blessings.

The Art of Negative Space: A Masterpiece in Minimalism
Negative space is a composition of space that is around or between objects or it may be called the “empty background,” those things that we aren’t usually conscious about in our daily lives. As it is shown in the above picture of sculptures of modern art made with white marble, the space around is the negative space. Similarly, in other art forms the area that surrounds and lies between a form or some object is the negative space, it is something that highlights the subject matter. To understand the concept of negative space in depth, we have to understand the concept of positive space as it excludes the main elements or compositions of the design. For example in a photograph of a long tree against the sky, the tree is the positive space as it is the only thing we can perceive against the empty sky. Another illustration might be a bitten apple, where the shape surrounding it and the positive space combine to create a unique and unforgettable silhouette. These two compositions together form a visual balance, influencing each other and impacting the aesthetics of an image or design. The deliberate use of these spaces allows artists and designers to create compositions that are visually appealing and convey meaning and emotion.

History and Making of Mysore Wood Inlay
Indian artwork has always mesmerized the world because of the handiwork that goes into it. Out of the many Indian art forms that are practiced by hand Mysore wood inlay work remains the most exquisite. A product of many days of precision and patience of the most skilled artisans, wood inlay work involves carving out a particular design on a wooden base using a very sharp tool and filling the hollowed-out part with new material which can be wood of contrasting colors, brass, resin, and even gold and silver. The base is usually of Mysore rosewood but other types of wood can also be used. For instance, Sheesham wood is used to make furniture with inlay work.

The Creation of Kalamkari Sarees : Exploring the Process and Tools
Kalamkari has its roots in South India in the state of Andhra Pradesh and dates back to at least 3000 years ago. Generations of craftsmen have spent their lives practicing and perfecting it and making this art what it is today. It is mainly done in Machilipatnam and Srikalahasti with the processes adopted in both the places being slightly different from one another. While wooden pens are used in Srikalahasti to create the outline of designs, hand-carved wooden blocks are used to print the outlines by Machilipatnam artisans.
