Book Description
Back of the Book
'It is a resort of heavenly peace and worldly comfort, it gives solace to the human heart and comfort to the human body; its population is even larger than the human mind can think of; its buildings are loftier than human intellect can imagine; its air is so refreshing and the flow of fountains so sweet, and its verdures so pleasant and invigorating that the flowers and the vegetation of this land may be compared with the glitter and colour of emerald and ruby.'

About the Book
It is tragic that we get old too soon and wise up to life too late. There's so much we could-and should-have done to get to this point in better shape. The big question is: what should we do now?

Health remedies are a dime a dozen, each one contradicting another. As an old Chinese proverb goes, 'It is easy to get a thousand prescriptions but hard to get one single remedy.' How does one negotiate that tricky terrain? This book has all the answers. In the patented, no-nonsense style of this series, Ashwin Sanghi and Dr Mukesh Batra bring together scientifically sound advice in a non-judgemental course-correction guide.

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Reading this book is that step.

Foreword
When I had just finished writing 13 Steps to Bloody Good Wealth along with Sunil Dalal, I received an email that said 'Ashwin, please remember that health is more important than wealth. That email was from Dr Mukesh Batra. It resulted in a phone conversation that same day and an interesting lunch a week later.

Over a khichdi meal, I told Dr Batra that readers would laugh at me if I wrote a book about health because one simply needs to look at me to realise that everything about me is the exact opposite-my weight, my drinking, my cigar smoking ... the list is endless. I am probably one of the unhealthiest people on the planet!

Introduction
In over forty-four years of my medical practice, I have realised that the key to a happy and healthy life is often simple. The secret foods for good health are in our kitchens while we keep searching for them on the Internet.

We spend money on 'health fads, which are often unnecessary and sometimes even dangerous. I therefore thought if I could pen down the thirteen most important things for good health that often get overlooked, it could motivate people to live happier and healthier lives.

Having known that Ashwin was writing the 13 Steps series, I felt that good health was missing from his life and writings. If by writing this book, he could pick up a few health tips, we would have a healthier ace writer around for a longer time. As Ashley Montagu said, "The idea is to die young as late as possible!'
