Book Description
Preface
Concentration is a basic instinct encompassing all living species. Yet, why it is found a weak factor among human beings, is a matter of unending discussions among educationists, philosophers and social reformists, who have blamed one and all, from little school going children to the indolent youth and the older folks of failing to hold concentration for longer periods. The ancients laid great stress on meditation to improve the state of concentration and suggested secrecy to the disciples to keep the methodology out of reach of not only common folks, but other scholars and holy men engaged in similar exercises, more due to a sense of rivalry than to guard its sanctity. The key to concentration was confusingly wrapped in many unnecessary magical formulae and elaborate penances and sacrifices of material and psychological nature. What was actually required was to put at ease the tensed up mind to concentrate on the object of probing. Many present day holy men still keep it a big secret to be whispered in the devotee's ear so that the man feels psychologically special, uplifted and remains glued to the Baba perpetually rather than progress on his own. Our Gurus tried to remove the veil of this mystery of a prophet and secrecy of the awe-inspiring mantra of the Lord's Grace to His selected messengers only.

There is nothing odd or spiritual about concentration. Human beings are endowed with this faculty like all other species. Wild animals, for instance, cannot get results by stalking and hunting without concentration to the extent of mesmerising the prey.
