About the CD
Dhun is an instrumental version of a song. This album features some mesmerizing dhun-s, rendered by five gems of Hindustani classical music, such as Pandit Ravi Shankar on sitar, Dr. Ustad Bismillah Khan on shehnai, Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma on santoor, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia on flute & Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt on mohan veena, exploring the lighter mood of ragas.

Dhun is a common instrumental form giving expression to a vocal piece. It is always composed in common taal-s such as Keherva (8 beats) or Dadra (6 beats) and is tend to be played in lighter ragas such as Mand, Khammaj and Pahadi. In a dhun, the treatment given to a raga is very light. That is why; most of the “dhun-s” are composed in mishra ragas or mixed ragas.
