About the Book
The present book provides wealth of information on Lamaism of Tibet. It is an important work on Buddhism of Tibet. This book has six chapters. The first chapter deals with rise, development and spread of Lamaism in Tibet and the important role played by the Dalai Lamas for its propagation. The second chapter discusses sects of Lamäism. The third chapter gives an account of scriptures and literature of Tibet. The fourth chapter mentions the Lamaism order and priesthood. The fifth chapter refers to daily life and routine. The sixth chapter reveals festivals and holidays. We can say that scores of books have been written on Tibet and Lamaism, and yet it seems as if the subject has not been exhausted. It should not be missed by scholars keen to know the religious history of Tibet. The author has produced it in a thoughtful manner and in a scholarly way. He looks at the subject both historically and analytically. This book helps very much to know Lamaism of Tibet.

About the Author
Dr. K.L. Hazra was a versatile scholar and is quite well-known for his contribution to the field of Buddhism. He was a well-known author of South and South-East Asian History, Culture and Civilisation. He was one of the most influential thinkers of Buddhist history of India. He was India's leading Indologists. He has written several books on Buddhism.
