About The Author
Born on October 11, 1930, Haryana, Maina Sundri was the beloved only sister among six brothers. Despite the constraints of her time, which denied many girls the right to education, she shone with innate grace, wisdom, and strength. Her brothers went on to achieve great heights-most notably, her brother Girilal Jain, who became Chief Editor of The Times of India. Married at the tender age of 14 to Shripal Jain, together they embodied the legendary Jain couple whose names they bore. He was emotional, ambitious, and deeply hardworking; she was humble, nurturing, and quietly resilient. As parents to five daughters and one son, their family life was rooted in love, faith, and unwavering devotion. Maina Sundri lived a deeply spiritual and simple life. A devoted wife, mother, and daughter-in-law, she asked for nothing, yet gave everything. Her days were spent in prayer, seva, and supporting her family with quiet dignity. After her husband's passing in 1998, she turned even more deeply toward religion, finding strength and solace in her faith. It was during these later years that she began writing-a personal diary filled with Navkar Mantra repetitions, spiritual reflections, and notes inspired by discourses and Jain texts. Her writing, like her life, was thought-ful, composed, and full of light. She passed away on 7th February, 2019. This book brings her handwritten thoughts to life-an offering to future generations, and a tribute to a woman whose simplicity masked immense inner strength. Her soul, serene and luminous, continues to guide us through her words. We hope this book brings joy to her spirit, wherever she may be now as well as to all those who read it.
