The authors Mark and Barbara Gardner have brought out this book as a guide book based on what they learned during their stay at Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba's ashram in Prasanthi Nilayam. They have also taken notes from the writings of Baba and the several discussions they had with long time devotees of the Bhagawan. These guidelines are meant for those who have some spiritual background and also to those who are aspiring to follow the guidelines of Bhagawan. The authors mention in the introduction that Baba encourages us to concentrate on love as a motive for selfless service to our fellow man as a test of commitment to God. One must live truth, not search for it. The authors have discussed the reasons given by various devotees for visiting the Ashram. If one decides to visit Baba how one should prepare oneself before visiting the ashram, is discussed in the next chapter. This is followed by a chapter on spiritual practice for beginners. In the next the authors have given details of what happens in a day in the ashram along with main prayer songs and some sample bhajans. In the last chapter of the book the authors have discussed as to what one can do after visiting Baba and have given some very useful practical guidelines in streamlining one's life in tune with Bhagawan's teachings. It is a very useful book for the true aspirants.
