Preface

India's youth possess boundless potential, a profound ambition to serve and the determination to rise above adversities. Nowhere is this more evident than in the aspirants for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), who, year after year, display an unparalleled commitment to crack one of the most challenging exams in the world-the UPSC Civil Services Examination. This book, Scaling Mount UPSC, narrates the extraordinary journeys of seven young individuals who have conquered this monumental challenge.

The IAS is not merely a career, it is a call to nation-building, an opportunity to serve the people of this great country and drive transformative change. The aspirants who dare to take on the rigorous journey of the Civil Services Examination are bound by a shared dream-to contribute to India's development, to be an integral part of an ecosystem that shapes our nation's future. These seven stories reflect that very spirit of resilience, perseverance, and sacrifice.

Each story in this book is a testament to the strength of the human spirit. From overcoming economic hardships and social obstacles to sacrificing personal comforts and enduring failures, these young achievers show us that no dream is too big if pursued with passion and grit. They remind us that success is not just about securing a rank but about the journey, the lessons learned, and the courage it takes to rise after every fall.

India is on the cusp of becoming a global leader in the 21st century, and our civil servants are at the forefront of this transformation. The future of our nation rests in the hands of such determined individuals who are willing to dedicate their lives to the service of the people. Their ability to innovate, reform, and implement policies will define India's journey towards becoming a $30 trillion economy and a developed nation by 2047.

I hope this book serves as an inspiration to countless aspirants who dream of serving the nation. The stories of Minnu P.M., Satyam Gandhi, Bharat Singh, Lavish Ordia, Anjali Sharma, Waseem Ahmad Bhat and Shruti Sharma will resonate with every reader, encouraging them to strive for excellence in whatever path they choose.

To the future aspirants who pick up this book, remember that the road to success is often paved with challenges. But with unwavering determination, discipline and belief in oneself, even the tallest of mountains-like Mount UPSC-can be scaled.
