Book Description

About The Author

All the Spiritual Texts of Dr. Jayant BâiâjI Athavale deal with the doctrine and practice of Spirituality comprehensively. The topics covered by them are substantiated with their own experiences and therefore these texts inspire even a layman to undertake spiritual practice. Similarly, they strengthen faith in those on the path of spiritual endeavor, seeker and the devotee, thereby steadying their steps on the path of Righteousness.

Spiritual texts co-authored by Dr. Jayant with His life partner Dr. Kundã have been translated in many languages. Pleased with their sevá (Spiritual service) done with humility and devotion, their Guru merged in the Supreme, Shrimat Sadguru Bhaktarâj Mahãráj lavishly bestowed upon them the Supreme Divine Knowledge and Devotion. As a benevolent result, Dr. Jayant Athavale founded the ‘Sanâtan Sansthá’. The Sansthá has centers spread across the globe and is effectively working toward spread of Spirituality’s eternal, true Knowledge in scientific terminology.

This book gives detailed information on various aspects of Lord Ganapati such as the implied meaning of His main Names, the incarnations in various yugs (eras), His pervasiveness, missions and special features such as conversion of the language of light (prakâshbhâsha) of deities into the language of sound (nâdabhâshâ) of man, one augmenting the vital energy (prânshakti), etc., the implied meaning of His vehicle - the rat, the science behind His idol, the importance of Ganapati with the trunk curved towards the right and left, the reason for offering a sacred grass (durvâ) and red flowers to Lord Ganapati, the implied meaning of a ‘modak’ (a sweet delicacy offered to Lord Ganapati), the association between the fourth day (chaturthi) of the Hindu lunar month and the moon, the science behind various rituals performed in His worship, Atharvashirsha and bijamantrâs, etc. Topics such as the Need for religious festivals, Ganeshotsav celebrations in the present days, malpractices occurring during Ganeshotsav, how a ideal Ganeshotsav should be and what efforts Sanatan has taken to make it so are also discussed in this book.

When some people read the Râmâyan, they feel like worshipping Râma, on reading the Shivalilâmrut, Lord Shiva and on reading the Devimâhâtmya, the female deity (devi). Similarly, after reading this book some people may feel like worshipping Lord Ganapati. However, undertaking such spiritual practice does not cause rapid spiritual progress in all because it will benefit only those who need that worship to make spiritual progress. Otherwise, even if a lot of spiritual practice is done, it results in very little spiritual progress. An average person cannot decide whether the worship of Ganapati is essential. Only those who are spiritually evolved can reveal this; hence an average person should read this book merely for the sake of information. To get the spiritual experience of Ganapati one should carry out the first step in spiritual practice that is, chant the Name of one’s family deity (kuladevatâ) as ‘Shri....(Name of the female/male deity in the dative case) ...namahâ.’ Later if the Guru asks one to chant the Name of Ganapati, then this information will help to augment one’s faith in Ganapati. When others read this book they will realise that they have acquired information on Lord Ganapati which they have never read before.

We pray 0 Guru, may the faith of devotees of Lord Ganesh strengthen in Him further and may everyone get the inspiration to augment their spiritual practice by reading this holy text.
