Almost everyone in this world is engrossed in enjoying sense gratification, but those who discuss Krishna's pastimes which are described in books like this one will become liberated from the clutches of Maya", the illusory energy of the Lord. One who keeps faith in these words will certainly go to Vaikuntha. Although people are busy day and night in useless activities, they should find some time to hear these pastimes. The more one hears these pastimes of the Lord, the more his heart will be purified. One can obtain the benefit of traveling to all the holy places simply by studying this book. Generally, gudras have no right to study the puranas, but they can be delivered by reading this book. However, one should discuss this literature only among devotees. One should not discuss it in the assembly of atheists and blasphemers. This is my heartiest request to all. 0 men, women, and children! Hear SriKrishna Vijaya with faith and devotion.
By the unlimited mercy of my divine Gurudeva Srila Gour Govinda Swami Maharaja, and all the predecessor Vaisnava spiritual masters, this book, Sri Krishna Vijaya has being published for the pleasure of the devotees. The effect of hearing Krishna-katha or pastimes of Lord Krishna through the proper source is described in the Srimad Bhagavatam:
Glorification of the Supreme Personality of Godhead is per-formed in the parampard system; that is, it is conveyed from spiritual master to disciple. Such glorification is relished by those no longer interested in the false, temporary glorification of this cosmic manifestation. Descriptions of the Lord are the right medicine for the conditioned soul undergoing repeated birth and death. Therefore, who will cease hearing such glorification of the Lord except a butcher or one who is killing his own self? (SB 10.1.4)
The nectar of Your words and the descriptions of Your activities are the life and soul of those suffering in this material world. These narrations, transmitted by learned sages, eradicate one's sinful reactions and bestow good fortune upon whoever hears them. These narrations are broadcast all over the world and are filled with spiritual power. Certainly those who spread the message of Godhead are most munificent. (SB 10.31.9)
The Lord mercifully incarnated in this material world and performed innumerable pastimes for the benefit of suffering conditioned souls. Hear-ing of such pastimes produces the medicine that cures the material disease of forgetfulness of God. Sri Krishna Vijaya is one of such transcendental literature that describes the pastimes of Lord Krishna when He appeared on this earth more than five thousand years ago.
A person seeing this book for the first time may raise an objection as to the necessity of publishing yet another book on Sri Krishna lrla when there are already innumerable books about this subject matter on the market. However, these types of objections are due to the nature of the age of Kali. In this age, people are mostly lazy about spiritual subjects, thus a new book depicting the pastimes of the Lord is always seen as a burden. Those fortunate souls, who are truly desirous of self-realization, are full of enthusiasm at receiving a new volume depicting the pastimes of the Lord. Even though the new book may contain a repetition of pastimes previously published in other materials, there are always new angles in the presentation of a given author which can shed new light on the Absolute Truth. Discourses describing the pastimes of the Lord are always dynamic; never stagnant. The Lord's body is ever new; similarly, literature describing His pastimes is ever new.
Sri Krishna Vijaya is an authentic document of Vaiwava literature de-picking the pastimes of the Supreme Lord Krishna. This book was first published in its original Bengali language more than 150 years ago by Snla Bhaktivinoda Thakura, and was then republished by his son, the great Vaispavamaster, Snla Bhaktisiddhanta SarasvatT Thakura. It has been noted there are other few editions of Sri Krishna Vijaya, however in this new English edition; we have used the materials from the original published works of Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura.
