Preface

Let’s face it. We all want to live a life of comfort and peace, and in a disease- free and tension- free environment. And there’s nothing wrong with wanting it. From the humblest living being walking this Earth to the most advanced being – man – each and every one of us want to live in comfortable environs, and in tranquility. To ensure a peaceful existence, it is imperative to live within a secure and well- balanced structure, and this is where Vaastu Shastra comes in. So what exactly is Vaastu? Based on certain age- old principles, Vaastu is a science which enhances the quality of life by harmonizing the five elements which are a must for survival: Water, Air, earth, Space and Fire. Along with these five elements, Vaastu- which developed in the fifth and sixth centuries- lays down specific rules and regulations as to the design and architecture of a structure, based on the energy lines running through the Earth. Once positive energies and vibrations have been developed, these have to be maintained- Vaastu Shastra lays down some dos by which this is possible – and only then will balance and harmony reign of our lives. Through Vaastu Secrets for a Better Life, Dr Puneet Chawla tells us how we can achieve this much- needed harmony in our lives. A Vaastu expert, Dr Chawla has transformed many lives by analysing and then rectifying the Vaastu defects within a particular structure, bringing a sea change in the lives of his clients. A dearth of easy- to- understand books on Vaastu has motivated him to pen this book.

Written in a reader- friendly style- with tips galore - Vaastu Secrets for a Better Life has been categorized into three sections, which have been further subdivided into chapters which deal with ideas that are relevant to that particular section.

In “Introduction to Vaastu”, the meaning of Vaastu and what it entails for mankind, the Vaastu Purush and Vaastu Mandala have been discussed in the first chapter of the book, while the importance of directions in creating a harmonious environment in homes, has been dealt with in the second chapter. The five Elements of earth, Space, Air, Fire and Water, and the Subtle Energies, and the Symbols of Vaastu, which are again essential for a Vaastu- friendly environment, have been discussed in the third and fourth chapters.

In the next section, “Vaastu at Home & in the Workplace”, selection of plots, Vaastu for structures, placing of the main entrance to the house, and various other rooms in the house have been discussed with simple tips to eliminate confusion and dos and don’ts that will reduce, if not totally remove, negative energies within the house. Chapters 16 and 17 offer tips for harmonizing the workplace, as well as tips for the employer to ensure that business offers keep pouring in and subordinates remain focused in their work. Chapters 18-20 deal with those important constructions in the building which are rarely given their due: stairs, height and elevation, levels and slopes, and water, oil and septic tanks.

In the third section, “Vaastu for Better Living”, you’ll find tips and suggestions on colour combinations, the right usage of which will enhance positive energies and thoughts in your life. The other chapters in this section offer tips on using Vaastu for improving one’s energy levels and quality of life.

Case studies on workplace/ factories, residence, kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms have been included in the Appendix, which throw light on the problems that the families faced and the measures that were taken to remove Vaastu defects.

Thus, as can be seen, Vaastu advises the correct structuring and planning of the house, and rooms within the house, and other commercial buildings as well. The tenets prescribed in Vaastu Shastra can be used by anyone and everyone, so that each one of us can live in harmony and in balance with nature, an d subsequently attain our life ambitions, and contribute as responsible and productive citizens of the society, and country.

But it is necessary to remember that Vaastu is not a religion, but a science, and while we can better our life conditions with the help of Vaastu, there is no substitute to integrity and hard work. Vaastu aims at removing the negative energies that limit our potential, and brings back peace in our lives, thereby enabling us to concentrate fully on our work and transform our dreams into reality.

So as you seek to walk ahead on the path charted by your destiny, dotry and incorporate the tips given in this book to make your life simpler and tension- free.
