The book beautifully points out the fallacies of a haphazard prescription
and firmly stresses on the understanding of the disease phenomenon
and action of the remedy for a successful cure. Written in simple terms it
emphasizes vital aspects of remedy selection, dosage, repetition and
how to ascertain medicinal aggravation, importance of diagnosis in
management and follow up. Finally, duration of action of medicine has
been given which helps in second prescription. This book can easily fit
into any standard homeopathic library.
Dr. Fortier Bernoville (1896-1939) was one of the famous
homoeopaths of France. He was a Doctor of Medicine in French
University. He was the author of 'Homoeopathiqe Treatment of the
Giddiness & Region Dorsale'. Many of his publications are in French,
later translated to English. His other famous works are- Limits &
Possibilities of Homoeopathy in Biology & Mental Disease,
Homoeopathic Treatment of Cancer, Diseases of the Respiratory
and Digestive Systems of Children, Miasms Syphilis and Sycosis
and many more.
"What We Must Not Do In Homoeopathy" is a translation
of the article Ce qu'il ne faut pas faire en pratiquant
Homoeopathie. Thirty doctors of France gave their answers to
this referendum. I am giving here only the translation of Dr.
Fortier Bernoville’s reply. This translation was first published
serially in the "Journal of Homoeopathic Medicine" Nos. I, 2
& 3, 1960.
The second article "Drainage and Canalisation in
Homoeopathic Therapeutics" is a translation of the article
Application et valeur des principes du Drainage et de la
Canalisation en therapeutique Homoeopathique by Dr. Fortier
Bernoville, published in L'’ Homoeopathie Moderne, No. 19.
This translation was first published in Hahnemannian Gleanings
Dr. Fortier Bernoville, during his life time was the Editor
of the journal "L' Homoeopathie Moderne". He gave me the
authorisation to translate and publish all the articles published
in the said journal.
My aim in publishing this book is to give to the
Homoeopaths of India something new in Homoeopathy that
is widely practised by the Homoeopaths of France.
Something new in Homoeopathy is likely to face criticisms.
But it is a fact that too much conservatism in medicine is a
drawback for the development of medicine which is very aptly
explained in these articles by Dr. Fortier Bernoville.
