The artists have depicted the Sri Yantra with lucidity, not only explaining its importance but the way to construct it. According to Tantrasara, this celebrated yantra should not be drawn during night time. Sri Yantra repeats the form of the double triangles enclosed in a lotus within four walls. It is the symbol of Devi in two forms - her own form (Swarupa) & the form of the universe (Vishwarupa). The tri angles with points upwards represents the Shiva elements and the triangles pointing downwards the Shakti elements. The encompassing circle is avidya (ignorance). The eight petalled lotus is the eight fold prakriti consisting of earth, water, fire, air, other, ether, manas (mind), buddhi (intellect) and ahamkar (egoism). The bindu in the middle is pure consciousness.
The ultimate object of meditation on this yantra is to realize the unit of jivatma (the meditator's individual soul) with the Devi. The upper two corners have the kumbh representing her bounty.
