This painting is horizontally divided into ten rows, half of which are occupied by animals in nature and the other half by fairies of land beyond the realm of nature. The two worlds are related to each other by colour and linear rhythm and separated by rows of triangles.
The animal is a duplicate representation of energy and character. They are naturalistic and depicted in the profile. The fairies are frontal with the face sideways. Strangely, the reduction of forms to simple shallow planes goes side by side with the distortion by their contours, which look like thin and wiry line betraying overtones of fantasy. The use of muted colours adds to the dreamlike quality of the painting.
