The scene unfolds as that of a sultry evening, when the courtier comes back home after a tiring day. He sits on the floor, against a huge bolster, legs almost crossed. He relaxes, takes off his elaborate turban and keeps it next to him. The bolster against which he rests is rich in texture, color as well as in detail - a bolster neatly tied up with strings ending in decorative tassels. He wears a long, flowing yellow angarakha and tight brown pajamas with numerous wrinkles. The waistband is peacock blue in color, held in place with a brooch. The ends of the sash fall in his lap. The turban that he was wearing a short while ago is bright pink - an extraordinary clash of brilliant colors! The turban has neat folds, with the hanging ends having golden tassels. A small kalagi with pearl strings on both sides decorate the stately turban.
He is balding on the forehead but there's hair curling at the back of his head. The beard and moustache is maintained in the Rajput tradition. His action of twirling his moustache speaks of the same. His eyes have a determined look, nostrils are flared and lips puckered. He sports a tilak that the Suryavanshi's of the Rajput clan use as a kind of identification. Close to him lie his sword and his ornamental shield. The hilt of the sword is finely worked on in gold with inlaid stones.
The whole picture has charm and dignity. Color and line, both are accorded equal importance.
The execution is crisp and captivating and speaks a volume for the artist's talent.
