Unquestionably certain forms of eye do leave an indelible impression on the mind which remains lasting for ever. And among these distinguished ones, the Kishangarh form ranks first and foremost. Sight of all the lovers of sensuous beauty is bound to be struck by the exceedingly charming form of the eye painted in the miniatures of the Kishangarh school. The eye in the paintings of Kishangarh atelier presents a unique type as distinguished as that of the Basholi miniatures. The painting of Krishna's beloved consort, Radha, presents an excellent example of this sort and that may very convincingly be acclaimed to be the supreme masterpiece in the whole gamut of Indian miniature painting. The eyebrow is sharply arched and the forehead is receding back. The iris in the ye however appears round, nor elliptical, as it ought to be in keeping with the profile character of the face. Gopal Kumawat, the artist has very elaborately and meticulously shown the tiny beams along the fringe of the upper eyelid which appears rhythmically drooping over the eye. Along the lower lid, however, the beams are not so marked. On the whole the unique features of the eye in this miniature may be said to be quite distinguished from other noted centres of Rajput painting.
