Divine Protector: Garuda, the Eagle God

Behold this meticulously crafted brass sculpture, a representation of Garuda, the powerful and majestic bird-like deity revered in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. Every detail of this statue, from the sweep of his magnificent wings to the intensity of his gaze, speaks to the strength and divine power embodied by Garuda. He is depicted here in a stance of readiness, his hands raised in a gesture of blessing and protection, ready to defend the faithful. The statue rests upon a lotus-petal base.

A Symbol of Strength and Devotion

Garuda's story is rich with symbolism. He is the son of Vinata and Kashyapa, and he is best known as the loyal mount and vehicle (vahana) of Lord Vishnu, the preserver of the universe. His dedication and unwavering devotion to Vishnu are legendary, making him a symbol of steadfast loyalty and selfless service. Garuda’s strength is renowned; he is said to be so powerful that his flapping wings can stop the movement of the heavens. He is often portrayed as a formidable warrior, capable of overcoming any obstacle.

The Tale of Amrita and Garuda's Freedom

One of the most famous legends involving Garuda centers around his quest to free his mother, Vinata, from slavery. Vinata had lost a bet to her sister Kadru, the mother of serpents, and was forced to serve her. To earn his mother's freedom, Garuda had to retrieve the Amrita, the elixir of immortality, which was guarded by the gods. With incredible strength and cunning, Garuda overcame numerous obstacles, defeated Indra (the king of the gods) and his army, and ultimately secured the Amrita. However, before returning it to the serpents, Lord Vishnu advised him to trick the serpents by briefly giving them the elixir and then swiftly snatching it away. This would allow his mother to be freed, but the snakes would not achieve immortality. By returning with the Amrita, Garuda not only liberated his mother but also solidified his position as a powerful and respected figure in the pantheon.

Handcrafted in India: A Legacy of Artistry

This striking sculpture has been skillfully handcrafted in India, employing traditional techniques passed down through generations of artisans. Bring home this representation of courage, loyalty, and divine protection, and let the spirit of Garuda grace your space.

How to keep a Brass statue well-maintained?

Brass statues are known and appreciated for their exquisite beauty and luster. The brilliant bright gold appearance of Brass makes it appropriate for casting aesthetic statues and sculptures. Brass is a metal alloy composed mainly of copper and zinc. This chemical composition makes brass a highly durable and corrosion-resistant material. Due to these properties, Brass statues and sculptures can be kept both indoors as well as outdoors. They also last for many decades without losing all their natural shine.

Brass statues can withstand even harsh weather conditions very well due to their corrosion-resistance properties. However, maintaining the luster and natural beauty of brass statues is essential if you want to prolong their life and appearance.

  • The best and simplest way to maintain a brass statue is to clean it at least twice a week using a soft cloth or cotton rag. This will prevent dust from accumulating on the surface. Dusting is especially important for outdoor statues since it is prone to dust accumulation much more than indoors.

  • To give a natural shine and luster to the statue, you may apply coconut or olive oil using cotton on every portion. You can use a toothbrush to get to the small crevices but do not be too harsh. This will make the brass statue appear fresh and new with a polished look.

  • In case you have a colored brass statue, you may apply mustard oil using a soft brush or clean cloth on the brass portion while for the colored portion of the statue, you may use coconut oil with a cotton cloth.

Brass idols of Hindu Gods and Goddesses are especially known for their intricate and detailed work of art. Nepalese sculptures are famous for small brass idols portraying Buddhist deities. These sculptures are beautified with gold gilding and inlay of precious or semi-precious stones. Religious brass statues can be kept at home altars. You can keep a decorative brass statue in your garden or roof to embellish the area and fill it with divinity.
