The Enactment of the Dharma Wheel

This exquisite brass idol captures the serene and profound moment of the Buddha setting the Wheel of Dharma in motion. The Dharmachakra Mudra, meticulously rendered in this statue, symbolizes the Buddha's first sermon after his enlightenment, delivered at the Deer Park in Sarnath. It is a pivotal representation in Buddhist iconography, signifying the turning of the cosmic law and the dissemination of the Buddha's teachings. This gesture, with the thumbs and index fingers of both hands touching to form a circle, represents the perfection of the Dharma and the interconnectedness of all things. ––––––––––

A Masterpiece of Craftsmanship

Cast from high-quality brass, this idol embodies a timeless elegance and spiritual resonance. The lustrous finish of the metal enhances the subtle detailing of the Buddha's features, from the serene expression on his face to the intricate patterns adorning his robe and the base. The weight and feel of the brass convey a sense of permanence and sacredness, making it a substantial and cherished piece for any altar or meditation space. Each element, from the characteristic ushnisha (a protuberance on the top of the head) to the elongated earlobes, is sculpted with devotion and skill, reflecting centuries of artistic tradition. ––––––––––

Symbolism and Spiritual Significance

The Dharmachakra Mudra is not merely a posture; it is a narrative. It speaks of the Buddha's immense compassion and his desire to share the path to liberation with all beings. In the tales of the Buddha's life, this first sermon marked the beginning of the Sangha, the community of Buddhist monks and nuns, and the establishment of Buddhism as a spiritual path. The turning of the Wheel of Dharma is an ongoing process, and this idol serves as a constant reminder of the Buddha's teachings on mindfulness, wisdom, and compassion, urging us to turn our own minds towards these virtues. Its presence can inspire contemplation and guide practitioners on their spiritual journeys. ––––––––––

A Sacred Presence

This 9-inch brass idol is ideally sized to grace a personal shrine, a meditation corner, or a study. Its presence evokes a sense of peace, tranquility, and spiritual upliftment. It makes a thoughtful and meaningful gift for those who practice Buddhism, appreciate spiritual art, or seek to cultivate inner peace and wisdom in their lives. This statue is more than just an object; it is a conduit to the teachings of the enlightened one, a beautiful and enduring symbol of spiritual awakening.

How to keep a Brass statue well-maintained?

Brass statues are known and appreciated for their exquisite beauty and luster. The brilliant bright gold appearance of Brass makes it appropriate for casting aesthetic statues and sculptures. Brass is a metal alloy composed mainly of copper and zinc. This chemical composition makes brass a highly durable and corrosion-resistant material. Due to these properties, Brass statues and sculptures can be kept both indoors as well as outdoors. They also last for many decades without losing all their natural shine.

Brass statues can withstand even harsh weather conditions very well due to their corrosion-resistance properties. However, maintaining the luster and natural beauty of brass statues is essential if you want to prolong their life and appearance.

  • The best and simplest way to maintain a brass statue is to clean it at least twice a week using a soft cloth or cotton rag. This will prevent dust from accumulating on the surface. Dusting is especially important for outdoor statues since it is prone to dust accumulation much more than indoors.

  • To give a natural shine and luster to the statue, you may apply coconut or olive oil using cotton on every portion. You can use a toothbrush to get to the small crevices but do not be too harsh. This will make the brass statue appear fresh and new with a polished look.

  • In case you have a colored brass statue, you may apply mustard oil using a soft brush or clean cloth on the brass portion while for the colored portion of the statue, you may use coconut oil with a cotton cloth.

Brass idols of Hindu Gods and Goddesses are especially known for their intricate and detailed work of art. Nepalese sculptures are famous for small brass idols portraying Buddhist deities. These sculptures are beautified with gold gilding and inlay of precious or semi-precious stones. Religious brass statues can be kept at home altars. You can keep a decorative brass statue in your garden or roof to embellish the area and fill it with divinity.
