A Glimpse into Hindu Mythology

This handcrafted brass statue depicts Lord Ganesha, one of the most beloved and revered deities in the Hindu pantheon. Known as the remover of obstacles, the god of beginnings, and the patron of arts and sciences, Ganesha is invoked at the start of any new endeavor to ensure success and prosperity. His image graces doorways, temples, and homes across India and beyond, a constant reminder of wisdom, intellect, and auspiciousness. The elephant-headed god is also celebrated for his playful nature and his unwavering devotion to his parents, Shiva and Parvati. The tale of Ganesha's birth is one of the most fascinating and well-known in Hindu mythology. According to one popular legend, Parvati, longing for a son, created Ganesha from the sandalwood paste she used for bathing. She entrusted him with guarding the entrance to her home while she bathed. When Shiva returned and attempted to enter, Ganesha, loyal to his mother, refused him entry. Enraged, Shiva severed Ganesha's head. Parvati was inconsolable, and Shiva, filled with remorse, promised to restore Ganesha to life. He instructed his followers to bring him the head of the first living being they encountered facing north. They returned with the head of an elephant, which Shiva then placed upon Ganesha's body, bringing him back to life.

Artisan Craftsmanship

This beautiful statue has a rustic, tribal feel, distinct from highly-polished, mass produced alternatives, and would bring a unique sense of devotion to any space. The statue is hand-crafted using the lost wax casting method. In one hand, Ganesha carries an axe, a symbol of severing earthly attachments and obstacles. In another hand, he holds a noose, representing his ability to draw devotees closer to the divine. The statue depicts him seated upon a highly embellished platform. Every curve and detail on this brass statue reflects the skill and artistry of the craftsman, offering a tangible connection to India's rich cultural heritage. This is a perfect decorative accent for your home, office, or sacred space. Display it prominently to inspire focus, remove obstacles from your path, and invite good fortune into your life.
