Shiva's right leg is firmly planted on the back of the wriggling Apasmarapurusha, the personification of evil, his left leg raised high up in a slant, his front left hand in a dola or gaja hasta pose pointing to the raised foot, the front right hand in the abhaya pose, the backhands carrying kettle drum and a ball of fire. The whole composition is placed in a rectangular temple. However, the 'tiruvasi', the arch of fire around Nataraja's image is missing here. The beauty of which is well made up by a small temple depicting various shapes and architectural styles which does not belong typically to either north Indian or south Indian temple architecture.
As Nataraja, Shiva dances the cosmos into and out of existence.
