This book is the English edition of our Bengali volume - Manisider Drstite Acharya Swami Pranavananda. It was originally edited by Srimat Swami Atmanandaji Maharaj, Joint-Secretary and one of the good literateurs of the Bharat Sevashram Sangha. Some additions and alternations have been made in this edition. The book is the collection of contributions offered on the occasion of ceremonies celebrating the Birth day of Acharyadev by eminent scholars and outstanding personalities who came in close contact with the Acharya in his lifetime. Their observations from various viewpoints establish the multi-faceted divine mission of the great Acharya in reviving our waning religion and orgnising the disintegrated Hindu mass. As providential dispensation the Achary2 instrumentally introduced comprehensive and consolidated well-knitted nation-building programmes through the Sangha. He was a Divine Nation-builder. The country now needs more and more the programmes of the Acharya in solving the prevailing calamities of our body-politic. What our country badly wants today is persons with characters, and the Acharya heralded the same more than fifty years ago repudiating the unpragmatic anti-Indian borrowed foreign ideals of the then politicians, without least care and fear. His prediction holds good now. I shall deem my effort successful in bringing out this book if the nation derives guide-principles for its progress.
The contributions of this book are from eminent historians like Dr. Ramesh Chandra Mazumder and Dr. Radha Kumud Mukherjee, the great Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee and justice Manmatha Nath Mukherjee, philosophers like Dr. Mahendra I am indc Nath Sarkar and Sri Hirendra Nath Datta Educationists like Dr.`Aga Srikumar Banerjee, Principal Akshay Kumar. Sarvasre These articles appeared in 'Hindu Regeneration' from time M. Bani to time. Some of the articles have been translated by Sri Amulya Chakrav Bhusan Som, a few by Sri Iresh Chandra Dev and the rest by Gauri Se myself. The manuscript was prepared one year ago and for want The of money and proper guidance, there was no possibility of original publishing this book in the near future. But incidentally Sri De Sadhan Chatterjee who is connected with some publishing firm in cropped Calcutta, came here in the month of September last and thoroughly read the manuscript and inspired me to go ahead with its publication. Again in the month of October, Sri Srish Chandra Kundu of Jignasa (a publishing firm of Calcutta) resided in our Guest House more than three weeks. Having immense leisure, Srish Babu read this manuscript and other valuable books of the Sangha and became highly impressed. In a letter to me he unreservedly expressed that an avenue for higher life has been opened to him as a result of close association with the Sangha. He introduced me to one of his literary friends, now residing in Hyderabad, who has incognito taken pains to thoroughly correct the English manuscript. This self-effacing gentleman, in his student life in Calcutta, once saw Acharyadev and received some instructions. Now he has revived the reminiscences of `Darshan' of Acharyadev and taken it as a great asset to his life. Prof. K. R. Koteshwar Rao always helped me in correcting my English translations and compositions.
