Preface
In yogasanas, when taught with classical approach, postures are no longer ends but enormous and multi-faceted means to an end. Each asana can be like a blackboard, which can be used for teaching any and all subjects academically. Each asana can teach everything from the plane of physical culture upto the philosophy of conduct of one's life. In asanas, the embodiment becomes an incredible laboratory, observatory and academy-just like a teacher needs to take recourse to several schemes, precepts and concepts. I have introduced these aspects in my earlier discourses, and then students requested notes of key points from my classes. Thus, I have embarked upon this project. It will mention the theory behind practice, in brief. This is the first book in such a series. It covers only the asana classes. The audio recordings of my classes will have an added value with these notes. All these are post-scripts of my classes. This booklet is also appended with select practice statements from 'Prashnayantra', developed by my nephew, Srineet Sridharan. It is a good guide for practitioners of yogasanas, and is based on schemes, themes and concepts of the type that are covered in my classes. I am thankful to, Pranati Pratap, Prachi Gondi, Uday Bhosale, and Smriti Chawla - for typing out and preparing soft copies of my work. Srineet Sridharan and Mugdha Srineet - for review and final editingof the notes. Sri. Deepak Marathe for designing and printing the handbook. I have a greater sense of accomplishment since this booklet is being published in the centennial birth year of our revered Guruji.
