It is a great privilege for me to present the reprint of the monograph, "The Rajbansis of North Bengal" by Charu Chandra Sanyal. First published by the Asiatic Society in 1965, this monograph touches almost all aspects of life of the Rajbansis settled in the districts of Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar and Terai region of Darjeeling. The ethnicity of their culture, language, customs, rituals etc. has been duly focussed in this monograph.

I am sure this publication will be greatly appreciated by the scholars of ethnology, social anthropology, linguistics and folklore. The recent developments in North Bengal have added new dimensions to the study of the Rajbansis.
