In the twill tapestry weave, this astounding spread tell a tale of Kashmiri skill and dexterity. On a black base is spread a pattern with various shades of peach, rust and its family of colours, together with beige. The middle is one oval with a flower inside and multi-pointed star on the outside. From that star in the middle, the design flows like the rays of the sun, ending in flame like pattern. Each section is segregated by lancer like sharp, pointed lines, rising from the middle, towards the arches close to the border. Each section has floral and vine pattern, all converging at the centre. The ubiquitous paisley is there, long and slim, the 'pai of the paisley is different and the 'ser' intrude into the next compartment. This whole design ends with softly curving arches. It overlaps a border which does not interfere with the central pattern. The inner border has a unique repetitive pattern. A plain black stripe runs on all four sides apprising us of the black base. The two sides which shall be tucked in at the back and front have a geometric design, and the sides which shall hang loose on two sides of the bed have architectural mehrab like designs.
This bed spread shows the superior softness, fullness and richness of feel of Kashmir's superb weaving.
